This is my college friend Lizzie modeling the 'bird' costume. She fitted into my costume perfectly and looked great wearing it. The costume also looks very different with a person wearing it and moving in it. I am very happy with it.

For my Final Major Project I decided to Design and make a costume for one of my favorite musicals, Phantom of the Opera. I took inspiration from the Majestic feather displays of birds. The corset has a contemporary twist. I have turned it 'inside out' and created is large chest to resemble the silhouette of a bird. I am so pleased with my costume and exhibition all together and I cant wait for it to be open to the public so I can see what everyone thinks. I want to take some pictures of one of my friend Lizzie wearing it as I think having a person wear it will give it a whole new dimension.

These are the illustrations I made to design my costume. They are all subtly inspired by birds. I have used a range of mixed media including newspaper, machine stitching, and spray paint.
